  • WE ARE…

... THE PERKES. We still consider ourselves newlyweds [we've been married for almost 5 years]. Our firstborn, Jace, is now 2 years old, and became a big brother when Sofia Rain joined our family in November 2012. We are from the East Coast [Luisa is from MA and Nate is from NH]. We are Bronco's Fans [We've lived in the Boise area for almost 5 years]. We are travelers. We are athletes and we are dancers. We are enthusiastic about food. We are spontaneous. We are addicted to the sun. We are in love.

Most importantly... we are HAPPY. We are the Perkes.

The Story of Us!!

Since we were late jumping on the “Blog Bandwagon” we have a lot to catch up on, and before we get too far into 2009, we thought we would give you a run down of the last “couple” years. Though the majority of the pictures were taken before we “birthed” Nate’s baby: the Nikon D300,…

In July of 2007, I returned home from my mission in Santiago, Chile. I was greeted with tears and hugs from my amazing family, as well as a shy niece and nephew. Notice their winning smiles? It was good to be home, but adjusting was interesting. I got busy immediately working, remodeling our attic and…

Cherlin - Slam dunkin like Shaquille O’Neal, if he wrote intmioafrve articles.

Nate ventured where certainly no human has ever been before, and most definitely where no missionary should ever go! His motto: Work hard… play harder. He developed an eye for art over the course of his mission. Certainly his talent and passion blossomed during this time. Anyone scared of heights? He certainly was not. More…

Right before Nate returned home from his mission, my family and I, the Morales’, traveled to San Jose, Costa Rica to pick up another honorable missionary, my brother, Andrew. My father was born and raised in Costa Rica and has not been there since 1978 when he returned from his mission. My mother has always…

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder?"

It’s never been more true. Embarking on one last adventure with our little brother Max, Nate and Jake headed to the slightly warmer climate of Dallas, Texas on Monday. Though not anxious to beginning knocking doors again, it was a good opportunity for them all to earn a few extra Benjamin Franklins and take advantage…

Ken & Jen - Very cute, Luisa! Nate expressed the same sentiment when I talked to him. And that is the way it should be. I hope you enjoy a great reunion.

Meet our darling nephew, Cameron [In Spanish, meaning SHRIMP, which also happens to be his favorite food]. Cam the Man is my sister Shannon’s oldest child. The classy Christmas Decor of Mom & Dad Perkes I’m not exactly sure why Nate likes this picture so much. I’m just barely arousing from a deep Sunday afternoon…

K. Elizabeth - I saw that you read the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series. These are my favorite books ever!! When I finished the 3rd there was no fourth and I was seriously devastated. I just love them! So glad you are enjoying your books. Reading is one of my all time favorites. Try "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult and "The Glass Castle" by um….. Jeannette Wells. 2 of my favs.

Bree - HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!!! Luisa, that list is AAA-mazing!! You are so awesome! I think I'll consult you'll list next time I'm feeling like a good read…too bad that feeling doesn't come more often! haha! Maybe I'll catch the bug again! ;) Thanks for sharing!

Shannon - And I'm proud of the amount of Shakespeare you have read. Never knew you liked him that much.

Shannon - Love Wuthering Heights, add Anna Karenina, Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer are ok. If you read those you have to read Becky right after. It's not by Twain but it's really good. Shannon Hale is awesome. She wrote Austenland. That was a fun read. Good luck with all of these. You have quite the daunting task.
